Bistead

North East of Alton. Fine views over surrounding countryside and Alice Holt Forest. Burial place of Field Marshal Montgomery.

Selborn Common

South East of Alton on B3006. National Trust property with famous zigzag walk.

Grayshott

West of Hindhead on the B3002 bounded by lovely Whitmore Vale and to the west and south are over 600 acres of National Trust property including a particularly beautiful spot, Waggonners Wells.

Oliver’s Battery

Near Winchester. A Roman/British earthwork constructed sometime after 43AD and occupied in later years by Oliver Cromwell’s soldiers at the beginning of his siege in Winchester.

Island Hayling

East of Portsmouth. South Hayling has 5 miles of rock free beach and safe bathing. North Hayling is occupied with boatbuilding and oyster beds.

Butser Hill

Large area of downland, commanding magnificent views. Barrows suggest that it was used as a strongpoint in prehistoric times. With the adjacent Queen Elizabeth

Forest, it forms the extensive Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
