How we help
At SSAFA we understand that life in the Forces is unique,you or your family might need a helping hand. So we’re here to provide practical and emotional support to anyone who is currently serving in the Army, RAF and Royal Navy and their families when they most need it.

We have a network of trained volunteers on Army, RAFand Naval bases in the UK and around the world who can give you local support. Everyone faces different challenges so we’ve developed specialist services to meet the needs of today’s serving community

Support in the service community
Our volunteers are on bases and stations around the world ready to give a helping hand to serving families.
Housing during illness and injury
Our Norton Homes are a home-from-home for Forces families with a loved one who is undergoing treatment or rehabilitation.
Family Support Groups
Support Groups are a community of Forces families and individuals who help each other and offer mutual support.

SSAFA is here to give military families an extra helping hand when they need it.

Our befrienders are there when you need some company when your loved one is deployed away from home. They are there to give advice to those who are new with service life.

We can help you through incredibly difficult times, such as bereavement. We can give you support if your family has some problems or is separated.

And we’re there for you if you’re thinking about leaving the Armed Forces and you’re feeling unsure about resettling into civilian life.
