Foreword by Lieutenant Colonel D P Penniall MBE BEM RA, Deputy Garrison Commander

Welcome to the 2019/20 edition of the Service Community Official Guide for Larkhill Garrison. To all who have arrived in the Garrison during the last year a warm welcome.

This Guide is designed to provide families with a source of information on activities in the Garrison and Wiltshire area. I encourage you to use it as a reference document and explore the many attractions in this historic county. The success of the Community is largely governed by the support you give, and we are always looking for volunteers to give their time towards a range of activities. If you wish to volunteer but are not sure what you can do, please contact me direct. The individual regiments have facebook pages where they share news and events.
Larkhill as a garrison has seen huge changes over the last year and three more Regiments joined us in 2019; 1 RHA, 19 Regt RA and 26 Regt RA.To facilitate this the landscape of the Garrison changed and we have undertaken the largest rebasing programme in Defence, with most new buildings in Purvis Lines. From September 2019 a new main vehicle Control Point will also open on Ross Road, 20 new single accommodation blocks are coming on line, Messes, RHQs, QMs and a new Gymnasium have bee built or are in the process of being completed for the uplift of personnel. There will also be 450 new quarters and a second primary school opened in Sep 18. I am conscious that there needs to be better amenities on offer and we are working with Wiltshire Council and DIO to look at commercial opportunities.
This is a great time to live and work in one of the most modern garrisons in Defence.
