The Army Families Federation

By SPP Reporter

The Army Families Federation (AFF) is the independent voice of Army families. We passionately represent our unique community: Regular or Reserve, wherever they are based, whatever the make-up of their family.

What does AFF do?

Throughout the UK and overseas, AFF provides essential links between families, the Army, government and other decision makers. We work hard on behalf of families to achieve policy change in their favour, and offer advice and guidance on all aspects of Army life, confidentially and in an easy-to-digest way.

We aim to represent families on as many relevant boards, groups and other meetings as we can so decision makers can better understand families’ views. We also speak with relevant government ministers, and engage with a wide variety of departments within the MOD, to help influence future policy making and ensure families’ needs are considered.

AFF works hard to not only acknowledge and promote the success of the Armed Forces Covenant, but also to highlight and address the areas where improvement is needed.

How can we help?

AFF has team members based around the world. Our local co-ordinators provide a vital presence in the community and are often the first point of contact for families struggling with an issue. Catch them at local events such as coffee mornings and roadshows, listen out for them on local radio and even look out for them on social media and local notice boards.

Our co-ordinators work closely with the AFF specialists on more complex issues, and build crucial links with local chain of command, DIO and other agencies, to ensure families’ needs are understood and met.

Our AFF specialists cover:

Education & Childcare

Employment, Training, Allowances & Money

Health & Additional needs

Foreign & Commonwealth
