Richmondshire Sports Development

Richmondshire Leisure Trust operates the Sports Development function on behalf of the Richmondshire District Council and as part of this operates a number of schemes to improve childrens access to sport and physical activity as well as support local sports clubs. This includes the operation of the Burst into Activity holiday activities, primarily comprising of the Burst Camp.

Burst Camp

Children that attend Burst Camp are always thrilled at the prospect of participating in so many fun school holiday activities. These aren’t just limited to sport, with kids experiencing a broad range that encompasses dance, drama, daytrips, wildlife, games and arts & crafts. All of these are overseen by highly qualified Sport and Play Officers.

Richmondshire Leisure Trust have strived to advance the development of Burst Camp since its inception in summer 2009 and now we host our camps from Colburn Leisure Centre with a Burst Bus that runs through Richmondshire. Burst Camps have been conveniently scheduled to operate during the hours of 8.15am and 5.45pm, allowing time for parents to make drop-offs and pick-ups in the average work day with a new Burst Bus service each school holiday, picking up children from around the dales.

Richmondshire Leisure Trust run the Burst Activity Scheme with the aim of helping the local and wider community. If needed, parents can rely on funding support to help cover the cost of holiday activities for children at a Burst Camp. In addition to this we now run a membership scheme to help parents spread the cost of childcare during the school holidays across the whole year for as little as £20 per child per month. For information please check out

As an Ofsted registered provider we are able to accept all childcare voucher schemes and, in addition to this, there are also Government working tax credits available. Furthermore, Ofsted registration is a clear indication that Burst Camps are run to meet the highest of standards.
