King George’s Fund for Sailors – Seafarers UK

By SPP Reporter

King George’s Fund for Sailors was founded by King George V in 1917 and is the UK’s premier maritime charity supporting seafarers from the Royal Navy. The fund gives over £2 million in grants each year to help over 80 separate nautical charities combat the effects of injury and ill health and poverty among retired sailors and their dependants. The charity also encourages the young of today, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, to prepare for a career at sea.
