Families’ Medical Centre

The families Medical Centre is located next to the Defence Medical Services Centre. It is run by civilian Doctors from the Eagle House Surgery in Blandford and offers a full range of general medical services for families, health promotion, family planning and maternity medical services.

Opening hours are:

Monday 0910 – 1100 – Doctor and Nurse’s Clinic

Tuesday 0910 – 1100 – Midwife

Friday 0910 – 1100 – Doctor and Nurse’s Clinic

NHS Out of Hours Service is on 111 and in an emergency dial 999.

Blandford Health Clinic

This Clinic serves as a centre for a wide variety of people who may be able to help you including:

Health Visitors; Midwives; Family Planning; Cytology Clinics; Orthoptic Screening; Speech Therapy; School Nurse;Hearing Tests; District Nurses; Child Guidance; Continence Clinic.

Blandford Health Visitor Baby Clinic

Located in the Families Medical Centre every Tuesday afternoon from 1400 – 1500.

There are no appointments required, this is a ‘drop in’ clinic.

Military Medical Centre

The Medical Centre opening hours:

0800 – 1630 hrs Monday to Wednesday

0800 – 1230 hrs Thursday. 1330-1630 hrs We are closed for training, however urgent cases only may be seen.0800 – 1600 hrs on Fridays.

Between 1230 – 1330 hrs daily the Medical facility is closed for lunch, however urgent cases only may be seen.

Before you make an appointment or attend sick parade, we would request you to take a moment to ask yourself whether you really need to see the doctor or nurse. Many illnesses are short lived and self limiting and only require common sense remedies to relieve symptoms.

Sick Parade

0745 hrs Mon - Fri

This facility should be used by all soldiers with acute ailments only. Personnel with long term complaints or soldiers who require a review should ring to make an appointment.

A Practice information leaflet is available from the reception which gives information about the staff and services available.

Dispensary

We are a dispensing practice and can supply all medicine prescribed by our staff.We only dispense to military personnel.

0815 – 1415 Monday, Wednesday and Friday

0815 – 1230 Thursday.1330 – 1415 hrs We are closed for training, however urgent cases only may be seen.

Dorset Out of Hours Medical Service

When the medical centre is closed but you require medical assistance, either dial 999 in the event of an emergency,or ring the out of hours medical service on 111.

Military Dental Centre Blandford

The Dental Centre is located behind the Medical Centre adjacent to the Lloyds TSB cash point machine on Blandford Camp.

Opening times: Monday to Thursday 0745 – 1230 and 1330 – 1630

Friday 0745 – 1230 PM Closed

Out of Hours

In the event of an emergency outside working hours, during weekends, stand down periods and public holidays,any personnel are to contact the duty dental officer on 07766 780690, 94371 2311 who will arrange for you to be seen. You will be required to make travel arrangements to the current duty centre.

Dental recall date

Dental inspection recall dates are now updated on JPA under the heading “dental details”. Please contact the dental centre for an appointment when required.

NHS Provision for families

The provision of NHS Dental services for our families living within Blandford Garrison has been agreed betweenHQ BGSU and Dorset Primary Care Trust. Families wishing to register for NHS services are requested to contact:

Please advise the reception team that you are a family member of serving Army personnel. This service is offered on a first come first served basis.
