Shaftesbury School is a mixed 11-18 secondary school providing a first class education for students from the local community as well as from around the globe.

Studying and socialising with boarders from Europe, Asia and Africa gives our day students a wider view of the world. Set within beautiful grounds, Barton Hill House provides a modern, comfortable home for over 100 boarding students, and was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Whether they choose to board on a weekly, termly or full boarding basis, students benefit from excellent academic and pastoral support from the team of managers and house parents, and the family atmosphere of the house inspires independence, confidence and a mature attitude.

The Sixth Form is a collaboration between Shaftesbury School and Sturminster Newton High School, bringing together two successful North Dorset schools to create a very special place to learn. Results for students are excellent, with attainment at A/AS level making Shaftesbury School the most successful state school in Dorset in terms of points per pupil.
