262 (Logistic Services Support) 15th Signal Regiment, (Information Support) Signal Regiment

262 (LSS) Signal Sqn formally the Logistic Systems Support Team is made up of RLC Systems Analysts, Logistic Supply Specialists and various RAF personal from TG1 Aircraft Technician, TG 4 ICT Technician and TG 18 Supplier. Although the Sqn is part of 15 Signal Regiment there is only 1 Royal Signals post which is the Officer Commanding.

The Sqn has been established in H-Site Bicester for the best part of 20 years. The role of the Sqn is to provide Level 3 support to the delivery and management of Logistic Information Systems (Log IS), in order to support End-to-End Joint Support Chain capability in the Tri- Service deployed environment. In short, wherever a Logistician from the Tri-Service is deployed, then the Sqn is poised to support them.

The main body of soldiers within the Sqn are Systems Analysts. Systems Analysts are technical experts who provide hardware and application support as well as advice and guidance to the J4 community, Formation Commands and PJHQ. They are recruited at Sgt rank from predominately the Logistic Supply Specialist and Communications Specialists trades although all trades within the RLC are able to re-trade to Systems Analyst.

But it’s not all about IT… As an RLC Systems Analyst you need to be resourceful and self-motivated, able to think on your feet, to work individually and as part of unique team. The Systems Analyst enjoys a demanding and rewarding career maintaining Log IS deployed worldwide on operations and locations such as Canada, Kenya, Falkland Islands, Belize, Brunei, the Middle East and 56 Ships/Boats that are deployed around the globe. Support is provided remotely or via on-site visits. System Analysts have the opportunity to gain civilian IT qualifications such as Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

The remainder of the Sqn form the Joint Systems Maintenance Accounting Team (JSMAT) and Sqn Ops, two important departments which are vital to the successes of the Sqn. Although based in Bicester the Regiment is dispersed with 233 Sig Sqn in Corsham and RHQ and 259 Sig Sqn based in Blandford.
