Welcome to Andover Station
Foreword by Lieutenant Colonel W A Common SCOTS, Commander Andover Station (Marlborough Lines)
Welcome to this edition of your local Service Community Official Guide. I have now completed my second year in post as Commanding Officer and Andover Station Commander and I am fully committed to ensuring that my staff and I provide the best service possible to all those families posted to Andover. We in Station Headquarters and Andover Support Unit give the welfare of our service people and their families the highest priority.
Although most readers will be directly associated with Army HQ, there will be some of you from elsewhere, including Middle Wallop, Tidworth and Abbeywood, just to mention a few. Regardless of which Unit you are assigned to, you are all part of the Andover community and are our responsibility. We will assist you in any way we can.
This guide has been designed to provide you with a blend of interesting and practical information on the Station and the surrounding area and to introduce you to the military and civilian facilities available. I would ask that you please make use of them. We have a very strong relationship with Test Valley Borough Council, which is borne out by numerous Community Covenant applications, which I have signed up to. This has allowed funds to be allocated to very worthy local community projects, which will in turn assist you with your stay. I commend this guide to you and hope that you take the opportunity, whilst living and working here, to explore the beautiful surroundings of Hampshire and Wiltshire and all that it offers.
Captain Ian Bellamy, the Unit Welfare Officer, Andover Support Unit (01264 381619 (94391 7619)) is the principal point of contact for this guide and will happily receive ideas for improvements or amendments for future issues. He is also the first point of contact for most of the subjects contained herein.
Finally, I wish you and your family every success and happiness during your stay in Andover.
